Canadian Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)
The Canadian Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) aims to attract foreign talent to settle in rural areas of Canada to support local long-term development and economic growth. This program is viewed as a continuation and upgrade of the "Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot" (RNIP), which will cease in 2024, and aims to meet labor market demands in rural regions.
With the increasing demand for immigration from Hong Kong to Canada, the Canadian government has introduced various immigration pathways. However, since the OWP has stopped accepting applications and Stream A and Stream B will cease on August 31, 2026, many Hongkongers planning to immigrate are affected to varying degrees. In this context, the RCIP provides a new option for recent graduates or those planning to further their studies. This allows young people looking for opportunities in Canada to complete their studies at participating community colleges, obtain job offers, and ultimately apply for permanent residency, making it a viable immigration pathway.
